Track & Field

Season and Registration: We train and compete from early March to late May. Registration opens in early January and closes soon after, once capacity is reached.

Eligibility: Track and Field is offered to homeschooled girls and boys ages 12-18.

Everyone is welcome! Practices and meets are structured to train and develop all abilities. No team try-outs.

Fees: Between $210-$225, plus a player team insurance fee – usually around $30.

Practices: 3-4 times/week – typically weekday afternoons/evenings. Practice dates/times on NVHAA Calendar and change from season to season. We train at the asphalt track and field facility behind Manassas Baptist Church. Additional locations in the Manassas area may be added as the need arises. Contact the Head Coach to discuss practice conflicts before you register.

Training: We train for and compete in relays, sprints, middle distance, distance, shot put, discus, long jump, high jump, and hurdles. Attendance at practices and meets is expected. Our co-ed middle and high school teams train together, and most often compete at the same meets.

Meets (based on a typical season and subject to change): Meet dates/times are dependent upon the limited availability of facilities that meet standard Track and Field requirements. Meet schedule becomes available after our season begins and is subject to change.

We compete against homeschool, private school, and club teams in approximately 8 or more meets each season. Typically, larger meets are on Saturdays, while quad meets are on weekday afternoons/evenings. Regular season meets are in the Northern Virginia area, with some occasional exceptions. Bus transportation/carpools may be available for some meets.

Individual meet results are loaded into Milestat and/or Athletic.net. These results can then be used as a tool for any athlete striving to compete at the collegiate level.

Regional/National meets, as well as those not in our regular season, are available to those athletes who meet the qualification standards or at the Head Coach’s discretion.

Special Events: In addition to practices and meets, our team typically offers family scrimmages, spirit days, time trials, team building events/parties, and pizza days.

Prayers and Devotionals: Our team prays before and after events and at the conclusion of practices. Each week, during practice, a coach or captain leads a devotional.

Our Staff: Our Head Coach leads the team, while our disciplines are led by vetted Assistant Coaches or Trainers. Several members of our coaching staff have received USATF coaching certification or other types of training. Our Administrator handles electronic communication with the team and organization, registration, and sports physicals. Parent volunteers help with at-home prayers, equipment management and transportation, uniforms, spirit-wear, meet staff, photography, medics, and special events.

Off-Season and Preseason Training: In addition to regular season training and competition, our program may offer off-season training and clinics during the summer and preseason/indoor track and field training over the winter. Please watch your emails for details and registration information.

Contact Us: Our enthusiastic team of coaches and volunteers seek to mentor homeschool athletes as they grow spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Our team is a welcoming family. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us: Team Manager: tteamnvhaa@gmail.com.
